RECONCILIATION THROUGH DESIGN

At the heart of Milliken's values lies a deep commitment to reconciliation. Through our ‘Reconciliation Through Design’ initiative, we are creating a powerful platform that bridges worlds, bringing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists into meaningful collaboration with the commercial interiors industry. This initiative is more than design; it is a pathway for corporate Australia to stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, supporting their art, their voices, and their stories in ways that directly benefit the artists themselves.

Commercial interiors hold the power to tell stories, shape experiences, and foster connection. By weaving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into these spaces, Milliken is amplifying voices that have long deserved to be heard and ensuring their traditions and cultures shine at the very forefront of design. With an extraordinary legacy of art and creativity across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, these collaborations bring that richness into the built environment, magnified on one of the most expansive canvases imaginable: the floor.

Just as Milliken is defined by innovation and creative vision, "Reconciliation Through Design" is defined by openness, collaboration and authenticity. Every project invites exploration of culture, history, and artistry, leading to bespoke creations that honour Country and celebrate the living stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Each design is more than a product; it is a symbol of inclusivity and a step toward embedding reconciliation within the very fabric of our shared spaces.

Through partnerships across Australia, Milliken has proudly worked with Aboriginal artists to craft unique, Country-inspired designs that not only transform interiors but also pave the way for greater recognition and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists within the mainstream commercial design industry.

CELEBRATING CREATIVE VISION - DISCOVER OUR ARTISTS & COLLECTIONS

CORROBOREE COLLECTION

Continuing Milliken's initiative of 'Reconciliation Through Design', we are proud to introduce the creative minds behind the Corroboree Collection, which showcase the vibrant celebration of Aboriginal art and culture. Created by six talented artists from across Australia, each artist brings a unique perspective and expertise, weaving their artistic storytelling vision into the fabric of their collection.

The Corroboree Collection embodies authenticity, respect, and cultural integrity. Each piece captures the movement, rhythm, and symbolism while celebrating the richness and diversity of Aboriginal traditions. Guided by ethical and sustainable practices, the collection ensures fair recognition and benefits for the artists and their communities, offering more than a design series, it is a meaningful celebration of cultural continuity, identity, and connection to Country.

SANDHILLS COLLECTION

The Sandhills Collection is a mesmerising journey through Country, envisioned by Indigenous textile artist Helena Geiger. It reflects her profound spiritual connection to the natural world, capturing the landscapes that have shaped her experience and imagination.

Drawing from her travels through Central Australia, Sandhills evokes the raw beauty and ethereal energy of the land - its flowing grassy plains, jagged rock formations, and the vivid, living colours of red sand dunes and bushlands.

Through the traditional textile art of Batik, Helena translates her impressions and memories into designs that speak of wonder, reverence, and belonging.

The Sandhills Collection invites the essence of the ancient outback into contemporary environments, creating carpets that resonate with spirit, story, and place - perfect for every market segment.

WATER YULUDARLA COLLECTION

Milliken, in partnership with the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance and the National Aboriginal Design Agency, proudly presents the Water Yuludarla Collection, a celebration of story, place, and culture woven into contemporary design.

Rooted in the extraordinary vision of Gumbaynggirr Artist Brentyn Lugnan, each design in this collection draws from the rich layers of his original artwork, translating its spirit into a tactile, immersive experience. The six distinct designs honour the enduring connection between the people and the land of the Urunga region - past, present, and future.

Through its thoughtful colourways and versatile forms, the Water Yuludarla Collection invites spaces to carry these stories forward, connecting communities and environments with the heartbeat of Country.
